HYBRID MEMBERSHIP FAQS

  • What is The Counsellors Chair Hybrid Membership/Program?
  • The Hybrid Membership is the program that accompanies the book "The Counsellors Chair". Please head HERE to learn more.
  • Do I have to be a qualified counsellor to join?
  • Yes you do! I am unapologetically exclusively for Aussie Counsellors. Students may join if they want to get organised before the graduate but they must be enrolled in an recognised counselling qualification in Australia. Counselling qualifications include: Diploma of Counselling, Advanced Diploma of Counselling, Bachelor of Counselling, Graduate Diploma of Counselling, Masters of Counselling.
  • Do you have a monthly payment plan for the Hybrid Membership?
  • No I don't. I offer two options - a six month option and a twelve month option. Monthly payment plans are hard to manage when payments do not go through and I don't want to deal with that. I also want people to be committed to at least 6 or 12 months and relax knowing it is all paid for (except for Powerups if you choose to get them). This is a low-cost program compared to most and to be honest if you can't afford to pay $327 for 6 months access then you most likely can't afford to set up a private practice.
  • Do you offer a refund for change of mind?
  • No I don't. The reason for this is that you get instant access to ALL the resources. There is also no trial period either as I value my intellectual property and would encourage you to value yours. Please read the members agreement carefully before you purchase.
  • How much personalised support do I get?
  • That depends! This is primarily a DIY program. There is a forum to ask questions and get support from other members. I will answer the questions I can but will also aim to help you to become more resourceful to set you up for success. Your personal vault will house short video responses I provide you to assist you if you are stuck. You can also make the time for the Drop-in sessions. For those questions that require more time PowerUps are avaialble when you need it. Please note I am not going to hold your hand or do the work for you -  I will encourage you and challenge you when necessary.
  • What happens when my membership period is up?
  • It will automatically roll over unless you tell me you want it to stop. I will send an email 2 weeks prior to the renewal date to let you know. You are welcome to cancel and that will be it or you can continue - you can also rejoin at any time.
  • What are the drop-in sessions and when will they happen?
  • The Drop-in sessions are when I am available for 1 hour each week on Zoom, people can come and go as they please to ask their questions. They will occur on either a Tuesday or Thursday at rotating times of the day to try and accommodate members availability. If they don't suit unfortunatley I can't do anything else about that. The dates/times will be available in the members area once you join.
  • Do Powerups expire and do you offer a refund for unused ones?
  • The Powerups last for 90 days from day of purchase. If not used in this time you will forfeit that time and will need to purchase again. You can check your Powerup balance anytime in the membership area.

supervision faqs

  • What are you qualifications?
  • I hold a Diploma Counselling, Advanced Diploma Counselling & Family Therapy, Bachelor Counselling and Graduate Certificate in Counselling. I am a Level 4 Member of ACA and a Clinical Member of PACFA. I am also a member of the College of Supervisors with ACA and have completed the Rise UP Supervision training in 2015 and then again in 2020. I have completed the Wheels of Supervision Part 1.
  • Do you supervise PACFA members?
  • Yes I do, generally for individual supervision only as my groups have 10 people attending with the exception of school counsellors groups which are 6. Please check the PACFA Supervision Standards if you are unsure.
  • Do you supervise supervisors (supervision on supervision)
  • Yes I supervise ACA supervisors. I am an experienced supervisor and have delivered supervision training for 5 years. Supervisors are required to complete an additonal 10 hours of supervision on top of their other requirements.
  • How many supervision sessions do I need?
  • It depends your client load, how experienced you are and if employed whether you receive in-house supervision.ACA requires a minimum of 10 sessions per registration year to maintain membership. However if you are seeing a high number of clients that is not enough accountability so please speak with Penny or your supervisor. The ACA ratio is currently 1 hour of supervision to 20 client hours.

  • What if I need an urgent or emergency session?
  • If you are in need of an urgent discussion in the event of a emergent situation. Please email me rather than phone me. Please do NOT share confidential information via email or SMS. I will aim to ring you as soon as I can. I don’t charge for 15 min but beyond that it is charged at the normal hourly rate
  • How many group sessions can I attend a month with ACA?
  • Australian Counselling Association allow you to claim ONE 2 hour block of any type of supervision per month. If you attend one of my groups you can only attend once per month. if you attend a 90 min group you can attend more than once. Please refer to ACA supervision guidelines for more information.
  • Is it ok to just attend group supervision and not individual
  • I don't believe it is no - particularly if you have a client case load. The reason is that it is inperative that you receive individual supervision to ensure that you are receiving the correct guidance and support that you need. Group alone does not allow this as participation is often voluntary and you don't get time to deep dive into client cases.

  • Please review the cancellation/reschedule policy in your supervision agreement - it is also on all the invoices. I will consider at my discretion extenuating circumstances however lack of organisation or double booking with clients will not be considered. frequent reschedules will be flagged and payment will be required without good reason.
